Track Nuclear Science and Engineering
Applications of nuclear science are key, of course, in the development of nuclear energy, but also in major breakthroughs in medical diagnostics and treatment; in sensing devices like smoke detectors for the home and environmental monitoring devices for chemical production facilities; in materials science; in important security activities like mine detection and de-mining, and explosives detection at airports; and in food safety measures, to cite just a few examples.
Applying radioactive compounds
The field of nuclear science and engineering continues to grow rapidly, and as it does, so does the demand for qualified nuclear scientists and engineers. The principle objective of the TU Delft Nuclear Science and Engineering track is to train nuclear scientists to meet that growing demand. At TU Delft, the principal field of inquiry is in the application of radioactive compounds for health and industrial applications.
What you will learn
The academic programme includes both technical studies and further relevant coursework including modules on such topics as
- ethics
- risk perception and safeguarding
- radiological health courses
By successfully completing the programme, you will qualify you for an internationally recognised Level-3 diploma.
Students also have abundant opportunities to engage in ongoing research in nuclear science for a shorter or longer periods at the University's reactor institute (www.rrr.tudelft.nl).
